Change default option on Send a Message screen?

August 26th 2019

I always send from a URL and would really like that option to be what is automatically open when I load the Send a Message screen. Is there a setting I can change in the Dada files that would make that happen (especially since the Write/Paste box is large and requires scrolling to get to the next option)? It seems like in the past I found where that was specified and changed it but of course upgrading overwrote the changes. Normally I note things like that but I didn’t for this. Re: bounces going to list owner instead of bounce address

Coffee is clutch. You speak truth. Headers of bounce messages are not saved (bounced messages are not saved). There is an option to forward bounced messages to the list owner in the plugin - does that work in lieu of using the forewarding scheme you have set up? Nah, because then they would all come to my inbox on my laptop mixed in with legitimate replies to the list owner, which I definitely don’t want. My setup has been working fine, so I’ll just stick with it. It doesn’t ...Continue Reading

>>I am monitoring the bounces emails by forwarding them to a different mailbox, and the emails I am getting at the list owner address are not going to the bounces email address where they can be parsed.<< The bounces I emailed about today turned out to not be new—they were actually leftover behavior from the List Administrator email being incorrect for the last mailing when I installed the upgrade, not from a new mailing. I assume it coincided with the mail server trying aga ...Continue Reading

Re: bounces going to list owner instead of bounce address

So I was wrong. This is not bounces from a new mailing, it’s new bounces from the original mailing where I set the list administration email incorrectly. Hopefully that did solve it. I’ll know tomorrow. Hmm, OK, so you wrote this: I am monitoring the bounces emails by forwarding them to a different mailbox, and the emails I am getting at the list owner address are not going to the bounces email address where they can be parsed. Why would the bounce handler work correctly, and why wouldn't you be surprised to have sent all the bounced email messages to the list owner? Set the bounce email address as just a POP3 account - don't try to monitor it. Set the list admin to that same ad ...Continue Reading

bounces going to list owner instead of bounce address

August 26th 2019

I recently upgraded to 11.4 from 9.x. I have the bounce handler installed and the address set to the correct bounce email. Prior to upgrading, the bounce handler was working as expected. When I upgraded, I had the List administration address set to an admin account, but after I received all the bounces at the list owner email from the mailing last week, I changed the list admin address to the bounces email thinking I had that setting wrong. I thought that would fix the issue. Today a mailing w ...Continue Reading

Re: force text confirmation emails?

Looking at this, the correct behavior in how this is written is to use the default file, rather than send plaintext-only: [1]https://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/blob/8f6bdb2d7c6cdc8890b66f00297c14c3278626e0/dada/DADA/App/EmailThemes.pm#L200 I referenced this in the issue, and changed the issue to a feature request. The, "what to do if there's a missing file" is also documented: https://dadamailproject.com/d/features-email_themes.pod.html#Creating-a-New-Email-Theme If you decide to go this route, one suggestion is to only copy over the email template files that you truly want to customize - there are a lot of files that make up an email theme! Dada Mail will happily fall back into using the default email template file, if it can't find that file in your own email theme. A customized email theme coul ...Continue Reading

Some on topic... topics include:

  • Positive Crits on the program (I like, "x", but, "y" needs some work - here's an idea on how to make this better...)
  • Bug/Error reports
  • Bug fixes
  • Request For Comments on any changes to the program
  • Help customizing Dada Mail for your own internal needs
  • Patches
  • Language Translations
  • Support Documentation/Doc editing, FAQ's, etc.
  • Discussion of any changes that you would like to be committed to the next version of Dada Mail -

At the moment, there aren't many people with CVS access for Dada Mail - if you would like CVS access, please first talk about the changes you propose and how it will affect the program. If the idea is sound and agreed upon, the change will be comitted. A good track record of this will allow you to have CVS access. Some reasons that patches will not be accepted is if the patch breaks compatibility with a previous version of the program, the patch is too centric to your own problem or the patch simply isn't very good.

Please, please please familiarize yourself with the documentation at:

Since no one wants to answer the same question twice.

Another sneaky reason for this mailing list is to test out the discussion list capabilities of Dada Mail, since Dada Mail is used for the mailing list itself.

NOTE - because of this, there may be times that this list will be somewhat broken. Although we're not planning on breaking the program by using it, we're giving you the heads up that this may well happen anyways.
