Re: Configuring for reCAPTCHA also upgrading if Dada Mail manually installed

September 7th 2020 UTC

I used the command line installer, which I think is still available. In my case I uploaded dada-11_4_6.tar.gz to cgi-bin,extracted and unpacked it, renamed the installer and ran it with a command string set according to the guidance in the documentation. It installed fine, partly because from earlier attempts I had already set up the subdomain and database. Then I had to enable Bridge and set up my local cron but the basic install by the command line installer was straightforward. Now that it ...Continue Reading

The installer would be needed to install and upgrade the app. The installer would also help make sure the prereqs. to use Google reCAPTCHA are working correctly, and allow you to test the config of it all, so it's what I also suggest if you want to set it up. How to configure it via the global config file also changes - and it has changed between what you're running and what's out now - again the installer helps smooth out those sort of details. How the heck did you install Dada Mail without t ...Continue Reading

Configuring for reCAPTCHA also upgrading if Dada Mail manually installed

September 6th 2020 UTC

Justin Firstly - thank you! Since we corresponded through the list in November about the semaphore messages, my ssh cli-installed and Schedule::Cron Dada Mail installation has worked continuously and flawlessly. Now, I would like to add reCAPTCHA to my subscription form, so that a publicly visible link to the form can be put on the astronomy club website. I want to be reasonably assured that the subscription request I see are genuine. In your online documentation about 'Google reCAPTCH v2 ...Continue Reading

RE: Dada Mail Lite - Bridge-only version

I think the below settings under MAILING LIST/Options essentially do that. I don’t publish the link to the web interface, and nobody in my HOA cares to visit yet another website and do yet another login if they can just check a box in their profile on our HOA site. And since I don’t create “accounts” for each user in the sense Dada Mail knows about them, there is no way for a regular user to login through the web interface even if they found their way to it. My Joomla extension interfaces to Dada ...Continue Reading

Re: Dada Mail Lite - Bridge-only version

Thinks Absentmindedly Maybe one easy thing to do is simply have an option in the app to simply not allow log ins to the list control panel for any mailing lists. That could help with keeping things sealed up until you absolutely have to log in to do $stuff. I'd be game to implement that. -- Justin J: Lead Dadaist.url: http://dadamailproject.com email: justin@PROTECTED twitter: @dadamail skype: leaddadaist Dada Mail Announcements:http://dadamailproject.com/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi/list/dada ...Continue Reading

Would that be doable? It's probably a project that's over and above what I'm willing to commit to taking on myself. The benefit just may be too small, as the way you're using the app is s ...Continue Reading

Dada Mail Lite - Bridge-only version

August 24th 2020 UTC

Hey Justin, Just an idea that's been rattling around in my head for a few years. As you may recall, I manage subscriptions to my Dada lists entirely through Joomla website accounts using an extension I wrote many years ago. All my lists are "closed" as far as Dada knows and the user portions of the web interface are not public. All email traffic is handled by Bridge. That means a fairly large amount of code in the full Dada package isn't really needed for my case. Is there a clean de ...Continue Reading

v11.11.1 Released

Howdy everyone, v11.11.1 is out! A few bug fixes - most notably getting those tracker analytic emails actually go out, and some security holes closed up. • Discussion of any changes that you would like to be committed to the next version of Dada Mail -

At the moment, there aren't many people with CVS access for Dada Mail - if you would like CVS access, please first talk about the changes you propose and how it will affect the program. If the idea is sound and agreed upon, the change will be comitted. A good track record of this will allow you to have CVS access. Some reasons that patches will not be accepted is if the patch breaks compatibility with a previous version of the program, the patch is too centric to your own problem or the patch simply isn't very good.

Please, please please familiarize yourself with the documentation at:

Since no one wants to answer the same question twice.

Another sneaky reason for this mailing list is to test out the discussion list capabilities of Dada Mail, since Dada Mail is used for the mailing list itself.

NOTE - because of this, there may be times that this list will be somewhat broken. Although we're not planning on breaking the program by using it, we're giving you the heads up that this may well happen anyways.
