Digests enabled in Bridge

Sent November 21st 2014

Hello Everyone, For those who would like to help test out the Digest feature in Dada Mail, it's now enabled in the Dada Mail running this very list!. To do so, you'll need to login to your profile, here: http://dadamailproject.com/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi?f=profile_login If you haven't done so, it's possible you have no idea what your Profile password is. There are options to reset that password, or register for a new profile. Giving that this list is 14+ years old, it's also possible that you have no profile (as ...

(re)Introducing Digests!

Sent November 21st 2014

Hello everyone, I've been commissioned to reimplement Digests in Dada Mail - the work can currently be found here: https://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/tree/features-digest_option It's a pretty big feature at the moment (42 changed files, with 2,739 additions and 951 deletions.). I never really thought the original implementation was really all that hot: it was very awkward to set up, as it required two separate lists that somehow were to be aligned to work right. With those two lists, the digest members couldn...

template tag for sender?

Sent November 12th 2014

I know Justin isn't around, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a template tag for the original sender's address in Bridge. I would like to put a footer in the emails that has the original sender's email address since P.P. mode converts the address to the list owner's address. The only tag I have found is the subscriber's email address (<!-- tmpl_var subscriber.email -->) but it seems like there should be one for the sender as well. Sent November 6th 2014

bounces handling for multi lists different mail server Hi, I have a dada mail program installed on a.com, list A use sendmail, mail server is local server mail.a.com; list B use SMTP, mail server is remote server mail.b.com. but when install, it can only set one bounce handling email address bounce@mail.a.com, then how to do do with bounces for mail server mail.b.com? because bounce@mail.a.com can not send mail on behalf of mail.b.com .‍ ...

When you install Dada Mail, don't set the location of your dada_mail_support_files directory to be inside your cgi-bin - files in that directory won't be served the same way, as files outside of it. Rather, just set the dada_mail_support_files location to be, say, in your public_html directory (just not ...

Dada Mail - no CSS

Sent October 30th 2014

Untitled DocumentHi to all,I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction with a simple (!) question?Having run a few Dada Mail lists over recent years, I decided to update one (as a fresh install) to 7.3.1 as part of a general refresh.Having successfully done so, it appears the installation has lost its link to the CSS such that all pages appear as plain text.I know the CSS file is located at /cgi-bin/dada_mail_support_files/static/css/dada_mail.cssBut can anyone tell me where I should be finding the url link t...

Taking some time off between Oct 30th - November 15th

Sent October 23rd 2014

Hello Everyone, I'll be traveling between 10/30 and 11/15 with a crazy arts/performance project, so online stuff is going to be limited. If you have any work you would like to hire me for, please get in touch with me sooner, rather than later. I'm having a deal on installs right now (10% off with the coupon code INSTALLV73!), if that's something to entice you with: http://dadamailproject.com/installation/request.html Cheers, ...

This mailing list is to discuss the nerdy programming development of Dada Mail -

If you are just looking for support Dada Mail, consult the message boards at:

All subscribers of this list may post to the list itself.

Some on topic... topics include:

  • Positive Crits on the program (I like, "x", but, "y" needs some work - here's an idea on how to make this better...)
  • Bug/Error reports
  • Bug fixes
  • Request For Comments on any changes to the program
  • Help customizing Dada Mail for your own internal needs
  • Patches
  • Language Translations
  • Support Documentation/Doc editing, FAQ's, etc.
  • Discussion of any changes that you would like to be committed to the next version of Dada Mail -

At the moment, there aren't many people with CVS access for Dada Mail - if you would like CVS access, please first talk about the changes you propose and how it will affect the program. If the idea is sound and agreed upon, the change will be comitted. A good track record of this will allow you to have CVS access. Some reasons that patches will not be accepted is if the patch breaks compatibility with a previous version of the program, the patch is too centric to your own problem or the patch simply isn't very good.

Please, please please familiarize yourself with the documentation at:

Since no one wants to answer the same question twice.

Another sneaky reason for this mailing list is to test out the discussion list capabilities of Dada Mail, since Dada Mail is used for the mailing list itself.

NOTE - because of this, there may be times that this list will be somewhat broken. Although we're not planning on breaking the program by using it, we're giving you the heads up that this may well happen anyways.
