Hi everyone - just a progress report: I've gotten Dada Mail running under FastCGI pretty successfully! Whoo! Once this is complete, it's hoping we'll all see 5x-10x performance improvements, especially on busy sites, so that would be fantastic. I'm currently working on the Dada Mail plugins. It's been an interesting project to get going correctly, but I think I've turned the corner on that as well. Plugins will act actually like plugins; running under the main, "mail.cgi" app, instead of being their own tin...

Here's a small update on this project: After some pretty long days of making a million small adjustments literally everywhere in the source code, we now have a pretty well-functioning, CGI::Application-powered, and FastCGI-enabled Dada Mail! There's a few more problems to overcome, but I should have something alpha-quality to release, and have available for testing purposes. I could really use the feedback, as literally anything could have a small (or larger) bug, that needs to be dealt with. Thankfully, even thoug...

> Great to hear! Then I can retire my FastCGI/Plack workaround that I have been using to get Dada Mail to run under Nginx. I'll be most interested in getting feedback from you - I'm a little worried about zombie processes. Dada Mail currently forks off a new process, when it sends out a mass mailing, which is a no-no for FastCGI. The workaround looks pretty easy to implement, But I haven't done research yet on what the situation is in PSGI/Plack-land. Also a little worried about the database connection. I'm ...

Hi Everybody, So, last night, I started working on the next big major version of Dada Mail - v8!. I'm usually fairly conservative with my versioning, and only announce major versions when something huge gets changed. In this case I'm in the process of migrating Dada Mail to be CGI::Application-based. Right now, there's really no framework to speak of in Dada Mail! Moving to CGI::Application is going to do a few cool things, most importantly it's gonna allow us to run Dada Mail as not just as CGI script, but will gi...

Hello everyone, Happy New Year! How's the new v7.4 workin' for ya? I've decided to start the New Year by giving the Tracker plugin a little love: * The chart on the default screen of the tracker can now be toggled between total number of thingies - opens, clickthroughs, bounces, etc and rate (percentage). The rate view basically normalizes the data shown by the amount of recipients that were sent each message. I've added a few more thingies in there, as well, like sending errors. * Individual mass mailing data ca...

Re: Re: v7.4.0 Released Thanks. I am not a developer but I think I am bewitched with php scripts. There is not any to do what I seek for and when I find one, it is not more available or missing something... I just want to create a small list of discussion (no diffusion) for a small group (50 to 500) with ability to reply to every user writing or to all group. My users don't want to use a specialized website to do it.My server is a regular host Linux with php and mysql and mail().My host doesn't accept mor...

These: > [Thu Dec 18 07:31:14 2014] mail.cgi: Cannot use 'Pragma: no-cache > [Thu Dec 18 07:31:14 2014] mail.cgi: Cache-control: no-cache, must-revalidate (Pragma, Cache-control) are just headers, mostly used when sending back JSON data - it doesn't have too much to do with creating a new list. What type of server setup are you trying to install Dada Mail on? ...

At the moment, there aren't many people with CVS access for Dada Mail - if you would like CVS access, please first talk about the changes you propose and how it will affect the program. If the idea is sound and agreed upon, the change will be comitted. A good track record of this will allow you to have CVS access. Some reasons that patches will not be accepted is if the patch breaks compatibility with a previous version of the program, the patch is too centric to your own problem or the patch simply isn't very good.
Please, please please familiarize yourself with the documentation at:
Since no one wants to answer the same question twice.
Another sneaky reason for this mailing list is to test out the discussion list capabilities of Dada Mail, since Dada Mail is used for the mailing list itself.
NOTE - because of this, there may be times that this list will be somewhat broken. Although we're not planning on breaking the program by using it, we're giving you the heads up that this may well happen anyways.
