No you do not. As long as you were using an SQL backed, and an outside config file (rather than hand-editing the Config.pm file), just follow the regular upgrade directions. ...Continue Reading

leaping through major versions

April 8th 2017

Hi Justin, I've been using pro dada about once or twice a year for quite a long time. I have currently installed pro 5.2.1 and want to upgrade to 10.5.0. Do I have to go through each major version or can I simply upload 10.5.0 and run the installer/upgrader? -- Mariano Absatz - El Baby [1]www.clueless.com.ar [1] http://www.clueless.com.ar ...Continue Reading

Re: getting _at_ instead of @

March 30th 2017

So, I made a test page, that just looks like this: user@PROTECTED It came out fine - the "@" did not turn into, "_at_". The email was a live link, but that was my mail reader doing that - if I looked at the source code, the HTML wasn't modified to add a link tag around the email address. ...Continue Reading

Are you sure the web page doesn't have any so-called SPAM-busting techniques? In my organization, people often include _at_ in mailto links to attempt to prevent spammer from automatically scraping their addresses. getting _at_ instead of @

March 30th 2017

I haven't found anything in the documentation about this, so I don't know where the problem is being generated. When we send a webpage to the list, if an email address is just typed into the content without being a link, it comes through the email with a mailto tag. That's not too bad, but I'd like to be able to control whether it creates the mailto. The problem is that if the webpage has an email address that is already coded with a mailto tag, then the email address comes through in the ema ...Continue Reading

Some on topic... topics include:

  • Positive Crits on the program (I like, "x", but, "y" needs some work - here's an idea on how to make this better...)
  • Bug/Error reports
  • Bug fixes
  • Request For Comments on any changes to the program
  • Help customizing Dada Mail for your own internal needs
  • Patches
  • Language Translations
  • Support Documentation/Doc editing, FAQ's, etc.
  • Discussion of any changes that you would like to be committed to the next version of Dada Mail -

At the moment, there aren't many people with CVS access for Dada Mail - if you would like CVS access, please first talk about the changes you propose and how it will affect the program. If the idea is sound and agreed upon, the change will be comitted. A good track record of this will allow you to have CVS access. Some reasons that patches will not be accepted is if the patch breaks compatibility with a previous version of the program, the patch is too centric to your own problem or the patch simply isn't very good.

Please, please please familiarize yourself with the documentation at:

Since no one wants to answer the same question twice.

Another sneaky reason for this mailing list is to test out the discussion list capabilities of Dada Mail, since Dada Mail is used for the mailing list itself.

NOTE - because of this, there may be times that this list will be somewhat broken. Although we're not planning on breaking the program by using it, we're giving you the heads up that this may well happen anyways.
