Dada Mail 8.x to Dada Mail 9.x Guide
Dada Mail 8 to Dada Mail 9 Upgrade Guide
This guide was compiled to get you ready for upgrade to Dada Mail v9, from a previous upgrade. Please look over this guide to ensure there's still support for how you utilize the application.
Focus
The main difference between v9 of Dada Mail and all previous versions of Dada Mail, is that v9 now relies on the Zurb Foundation Frontend Framework:
The majority of the changes in v9 happen with rewritting and in some cases: renaming template files found in, dada/templates
. If you have made your own customizations and modifications to these files, they may well need to be rewritten to work with this new version of Dada Mail (and thus, the major release status)
Major UI Changes
Along with utilizing Foundation, many of Dada Mail's user interfaces have drastically changed from their previous designs:
Administration Login
The administration login now uses a much more compact design to either log into a mailing list, or to create a new one. Both forms are still there, but now in a tab interface, so only one form is shown at a time.
Reorganization of top-level menus
Many items in the navigation bar for the list control panel have been moved around and renamed.
Side Bar to Top Bar
Dada Mail's List Control Panel side bar has been replaced with a top bar. If you prefer the former design, you may enable the classic side bar in the List Control Panel under, Settings - Enable/Disable Features
File Browser/Uploaders
CoreFile FileManager Upgrade to v2.2.0
Removed Features
Some features in Dada Mail have been removed to help with the scope of the project, code cruft, and to keep focus on parts of Dada Mail that are most popular/most useful
Multiple Mailing List Sending
Multiple Mailing List Sending has been completely removed. This feature wasn't enabled by default, but could be enabled through Dada Mail's global config.
Sending Options
Errors-To headers support
Dada Mail had the option to add a, Errors-To
header. This header is very much outdated, and support for it has been removed from the app.
Return-Path header
Dada Mail had an option to explicitly set a Return-Path
header, although limited MTA's supported this. The MTA itself will set this header correctly on behalf of the app.
Sending - Mass Mailing Options
Reload Mailings After Each Batch
This option has been removed, as it's usually the wrong option to depend on.
Deprecations
$S_PROGRAM_URL global config variale
$S_POGRAM_URL
is a somewhat naive way to "add" extra security to Dada Mail giving you the ability to set a different URL for List Control Panel access. It usually is not utilized at all.
Support in the app is still there, but the included installer does not support setting it. Best thing to do is to use https connections for everything.
