I really think long and hard about removing features. Usually it's a maintenance problem: would keeping the feature stop other, better features from being added? Is keeping the feature taking too much time on my end to make it worth it for me supporting it? The problem with bogus addresses flooding subscription forms is a very real one, and unfortunately, adding a CAPTCHA on step #1 seems to be the best way to combat it - it's something I resisted for a while, but what-cha-gonna-do? I am getting a lot of abuse reports in Yahoo’s feedback loop for unrequested confirmation emails. I see in the documentation that enabling reCAPTCHA only makes it available *after* clicking the confirmation link, which means it won’t help with these Yahoo abuse reports.
