Justin,

Sounds great.  I've been using Dada for years to power a list where people sign up on paper and then I email them a Welcome message by hand after I subscribe them to the list.  I'd like to see that feature to send a Welcome email to the people I just subscribed.

Moshe

Hello All,

I'm working on a few new features for Dada Mail:

The first is to allow truly "Invite-Only" lists and true, "Closed" lists. First, the closed lists:

Right now, you can "close" a list to people trying to subscribe themselves, but as someone on the boards pointed out, it's not super useful. You can still mass subscribe someone outright, but you cannot send a list invitation. Seems strange

So, I'm playing with changing the behavior of a, "Closed List" to mean, "Closed to any subscriptions, what-so-ever"

Which brings me to "Invitation Only Lists". Invitation Only lists are not closed - BUT, you must be invited (via the list control panel) to subscribe to them. Yes, you may also just mass-subscribe people in the list control panel, if you so desire.

The next feature I'm working on is simply the ability to mass-mail only the people you just subscribed - to give them a note to say, "hey! You're subscribed!" You may see how that may be useful for invitation-only lists. You can also see how this can all fit into a workflow, if you have a semi-private list and don't want someone you've just gotten written or verbal confirmation have to confirm (some say, "again") a subscription to your list they're already cool with.

Now, you can just get their "OK" in person, subscribe their address and along comes a, "welcome to the list!" message, so they know they'll get messages from you in the future.

So, little changes, but hopefully for the better. Thoughts?
