Test 3 and 4 work well for me, although now when looking at the beta (and your fix), I'm seeing the amount of space on the right of the, ":: Sign Up for a List ::" copy is *more* in Moz, than it is in IE. I'm looking at the default screen. I am testing on Mac OS9.2.2 with MSIE 5.1.7 Testfices 1, 2, and 3 do not change the misplacement. Testfix 3a does the trick: http://a-ok.net/dadadev/2.10b1-IE5Mac_positioning_testfix3a.html renders perfect. Testfixes 3a, 4 and 4a are all rendering as desired, either can be used. The rendering is not related to the Mac OS version, it is only a MSIE .. ..how does MS call bugs? .. ah, features !
