I'm not sure what to look for but here are three screenshots, each showing from top down: Firefox 1.0.4 IE 5.2.3 (5815.1) Safari 1.3 (v312) all with OS X 10.3.9 http://rudegnu.com/textfixA.jpg http://rudegnu.com/textfixB.jpg http://rudegnu.com/textfixC.jpg -- curmudgeon ...Continue Reading

[dadadev] Re: IE 5/Mac Template Breakage/body{} q's Well, I should have known that the "overflow:hidden" float-clearing trick that folks were raving about at: http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2005/02/26/simple-clearing-of-floats/ and: http://annevankesteren.nl/2005/03/clearing-floats was too good to be true. If the Tantek box model hack has taught me anything, it's that CSS cross-browser hacks must look really ugly and intimidating, and be difficult to understand. <sigh> That said: Manfred, I'm ...Continue Reading

http://a-ok.net/dadadev/2.10b1-IE5Mac_positioning_fixA.html ok here comes the Mac OS9 section: strange results... the above looks good in MSIE 5.17 in any MacOS, centered as desired but the box around ".: Dada Mail :: Sign Up for a List :: " is bigger than it should be. --> http://www.hobbysommer.net/web/msie5.1.7_macOS9.png Mozilla 1.2.1 (highest available version for Mac OS9) omits the header text completely !! --> http://www.hobbysommer.net/web/moz1.2.1_macOS9.png Opera 6.03 (highest availa ...Continue Reading

And while we're on the topic of header content, I thought I'd better ask a second time in case anyone missed it the first: Right now, the header texts look something like: .: Dada Mail :: Sign Up for a List :: Justin and I would like to move the decorative/presentational dots in those texts from the HTML templates into the stylesheet, so they don't get in the way of future alternative stylesheet layouts or designs. But doing so will mean that IE, which doesn't understand the CSS2 :before and :after sele ...Continue Reading

Okay, here's hoping we have a winner...for the IE5/Mac centering bug, anyhow: http://a-ok.net/dadadev/2.10b1-IE5Mac_positioning_fixA.html This is just "testfix 3a" put into the stylesheet in a way that should *only* affect IE5/Mac. Because it mimicks the change I'd make to default_css.css, testing in any & all browsers, and on any & all platforms and OSes, is welcomed. So far, it looks good in: Moz/Win IE6/Win IE5.5/Win IE5.01/Win ...Continue Reading

Oooops - here is the correction to my typo - below link works ! I am testing on Mac OS9.2.2 with MSIE 5.1.7 Testfices 1, 2, and 3 do not change the misplacement. Testfix 3a does the trick: http://a-ok.net/dadadev/2.10b1-IE5Mac_positioning_testfix3a.html renders perfect. Testfixes 3a, 4 and 4a are all rendering as desired, either can be used. The rendering is not related to the Mac OS version, it is only a MSIE .. ..how does MS call bugs? .. ah, features ! Here is a pic of what I see with 3a, 4 and 4a: http://www. ...Continue Reading
