Thanks for the detailed response. I’ve always used double opt-in (closed loop) and consider it a best practice, but GDPR-compliant consent is more about what they consented to than whether it was closed loop or not. If anyone wants detailed information about this or just about any other GDPR-related topic, the best source I have found is a GDPR facebook group run by Suzanne Dibble, a data protection expert who practices law in the UK. She has tons of information and daily videos, including several about the legal basis ...Continue Reading

I appreciate everyone's feedback. > For those who are not requesting fresh consent and instead relying on legitimate interests as the legal basis for contact, upgrading will not affect our ability to mail to addresses already in the list under the version, right? That would be a question you'll have to ask yourself, honestly. If you're not sure, I would do a consultation with a lawyer. Personally, I think having someone do ...Continue Reading

Thanks for all your work on this, Justin. For those who are not requesting fresh consent and instead relying on legitimate interests as the legal basis for contact, upgrading will not affect our ability to mail to addresses already in the list under the version, right? I’m envisioning that everything with the current subscribers will remain the same, but new subscribers will have all of the new info paired with their subscription in the database. Please let me know if I’m understanding that correctly. Also, w ...Continue Reading

Thanks for the update - sounds really good. Not exactly GDPR related, but while you are in there… is there a way to have child themes that we can control without modifying Dada core? So that upon upgrade, the style changes would not be overwritten? It could be as simple as a line of code calling a child theme’s stylesheet after the dada stylesheets (so it cascades to where the child theme overrides the stylesheets that ship with Dada). I looked and don’t see where it is currently possible, but I could be missing it ...Continue Reading

From: Hello everyone, Update on GDPR stuff: * Adding explicit consents per-list is now supported in Dada Mail at time of sign up. Any subscription requests will be recorded, along with what the user has consented to, and a ton of metadata like date/time, ip, request url - that kinda stuff. * Privacy Policy will also be recorded. Both of these can be update (but really shouldn't all that much) and all consents/privacy policies will be saved to be able to be looked up at a later date, if needed. * Privacy ...Continue Reading
