Bug #1660046

October 24th 2007 UTC

Hey Justin, It's great to hear that you're making progress on support for multiple fields. Could you please take a look at a bug[1] I reported awhile back then submitted a fix for last month? I'm wondering if I could get my patch applied to the next release so that I don't have to keep patching your updates. Thanks, William [1] http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1660046&group_id=13002&atid=113002 ...Continue Reading

Multiple Fields Update #4 - Partial List Sending

October 22nd 2007 UTC

Just to keep everyone in the loop - I got partial list sending blocked out. This is the feature that'll allow you to send a message to only part of your list, depending on some parameters - for example, if you want to send to only people that state the live in, "Denver" with a zipcode that starts with, "802" - you can. Pretty slick. What's even more slick is I have a live preview hooked up, so you can fill out the parameters and a table with your subscribers will be filled out and mod ...Continue Reading

Multiple Fields Update #3

October 17th 2007 UTC

Some more multiple fields stuff: I got Fallback values all set. These are the values that'll be used if there's no value set for a subscriber. That's wordy. In other words, say you have a subscriber: me@PROTECTED There's two extra fields, first name and last name - which this subscriber doesn't have any information about. This'll allow to say, "Well, if there's no info, use, "Sir" for the first name and, um, nothing for the last name. Easy enough. Every thing's still a bit rough, but this i ...Continue Reading

In fact, it's already working, so you can say: Dear [first_name] I see you like, [favorite_pet]! I like [favorite_pet]s too! At the moment, You can't sent to just a part of your list, for example, you can't say (yet): "Hey, Dada, only send this message out to people who like, "Dogs& ...Continue Reading

Great! Can't wait for the release! Will it already include "personalized" emails? That is, automatically injecting one or more of the multiple fields into the send email? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dada Mail (Justin Simoni)" To: Sent: Monday, October 15, 2007 3:17 AM Subject: [dadadev] Multiple Fields Update #2 > > OK! > > Got Individual registration working, so people can subscribe themselves > with the multiple fields. > > I'll release an alpha soon, for people ...Continue Reading

Multiple Fields Update #2

October 14th 2007 UTC

OK! Got Individual registration working, so people can subscribe themselves with the multiple fields. I'll release an alpha soon, for people to play with, once I tie up a few things and have it working for Postgres and SQLite and get the PlainText (default) backend working. It's easier than it sounds. Still have a whole lot of issues to fix- mostly replacing the duct tape and twine code that's in right now with well-tested code and a boat-load of UI stuff to make it easy to work with these new fields. Pl ...Continue Reading

Gravatar Support

On a whim, I put in Gravatar support for the Dada Mail discussion list archives. It basically puts a little icon of yourself on any message you post that's also associated with a Gravatar icon. Here's an example: http://mojo.skazat.com/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi/archive/dadadev/ 20071012205501/ ...Continue Reading

2.11 alpha Multiple Fields Update

October 12th 2007 UTC

Hello All, I got Multiple Fields support in Dada Mail bolted on. Currently, the SQL backends (and currently, that just means the MySQL flavor) can support an arbitrary amount of additional columns in the dada_subscribers table. This should make upgrading a breeze, since it's backwards compatible with any other Dada made in the last... 5 years or so. You can mass subscribe new subscribers via the list control panel, View the subscribers with the additional fields, And mass remove them, As well as edit thes ...Continue Reading
