Re: Better Security for FCKeditor's File Upload Feature

May 10th 2010 UTC

Is it a big deal to change to TinyMCE?  It's still free and can easily be set to disallow uploads.  I use it in my calendar system input form and really like it. Better Security for FCKeditor's File Upload Feature

May 10th 2010 UTC

I've been trying to get FCKeditor to play a little nicer with Dada Mail and get the File Upload stuff a little more secure. The newest version of FCKeditor is actually called CKeditor, but the file upload/browser portion of the script is not free, or free software, so I still sometimes rely on the older FCKeditor. The problem is, FCKeditor's file upload feature is a potential security problem, since it allows an anonymous person to upload files to your hosting account. There's checks to what these files can be (which ...Continue Reading

Problems Saving POP3/SMTP passwords bug and fix

May 3rd 2010 UTC

I've gotten a lot of people telling me about this bug: http://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/issues/closed#issue/45 As noted, it is now closed, since I added a small fix to get things working again (it never had affected me) If anyone was bitten by this bug, could anyone confirm that this changes fixes things for them? ...Continue Reading

It may be worth it to make an alternative template for your needs, without so much css trickery. ...Continue Reading

Dada Mail and Google Apps for Domains

April 29th 2010 UTC

Below is a rough draft section of the email sending FAQ I'm writing about Dada Mail and Google Apps - and how to work (and workaround) using Dada Mail with a hosting account that uses Google Apps. It's not perfect, but I'm starting to get a trickle of clients that use Google Apps and I'd like them to use Dada Mail, as well - so here's my findings. You can also find the source of this FAQ on git (if you have some major changes you'd like to fork) http://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/blob/19d06bc1c098dd64fdb5921180 ...Continue Reading

Centered Reply Text

April 28th 2010 UTC

Sorry, I hate repeating questions, but this one is still affecting me. Any thoughts? When I use the "Edit Template" / "Apply the list template to HTML email messages" option, the emails are nicely formatted with the DadaMail screen template, but when you reply to such an email, the reply text is centered and shaded. Apparently the reply is being caught up in part of the CSS template. Is there a way people can reply with unaffected text, while maintaing the original email body HTML? Carl K. ...Continue Reading

Well. That was quite interesting. And amusing. And on a personal level, eye-opening. Thanks for looking into it. Fricken' spiders. I figured it out!!! I bet it is the public list archive being hit by a search engine. I noticed in Alan's message that there is an unsubscribe link for him (I munged it in this message). I am not sure where to go from here though. Maybe before messages are put in the archive, they can be parsed to remove the message footer?
