Update - now that I have manually cleaned out the queue, the cron job seems to be working again so I am thinking that it was actually the script that was hung up, not that the cron job wasn't running. There were a couple of mailings with attachments, but they were well below the limit specified and were only going to 10 people on the smallest list.
