question about $MAILOUT_AT_ONCE_LIMIT

October 19th 2011 UTC

I have very small discussion lists (5-80 subscribers and very low volume; little chance of overwhelming the server) and want to enable more than one mailing at once. Before I completely muck up my installation, I thought I'd better check here first to be sure I am doing it correctly. In looking at the manual, it looks like I should just add a line to the .dada_config file like this: $MAILOUT_AT_ONCE_LIMIT = '2'; Is that correct? Does it matter where in .dada_config I insert it? Thanks.  Warm regards, ...Continue Reading

RE: Bounce Handler Developments - Questions

October 19th 2011 UTC

I'm thinking of making the Soft Bounce Score, Hard Bounce Score and the Score Threshold (the score that needs to be hit before a bounced message is removed from the mailing list ) something that can be customized on a per-list basis, instead of it being a global (and impossible to set, without diving into the config file, which isn't something people seem to like to do) value. Good idea? YES! This would be a huge help. Being able to adjust this through the front end would be wonderful. Going one step further, I'd like ...Continue Reading

All of the major discussion list platforms leave this information in the email. You know, it may be as simple as this: When you have Dada Mail send mail via the sendmail command, the entire command looks like this (where, "/usr/sbin/sendmail" is the path to your sendmail): /usr/bin/sendmail -t The, "-t" flag says to do this (at least this is what the sendmail alias ...Continue Reading

Bounce Handler Developments - Questions

October 19th 2011 UTC

Hey everyone, I'm starting to do some work on the bounce handler. You can follow my work at: https://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/tree/features-bounce_handler_enhancements The first change I've made is to put the Scorecard in that first main screen, instead of having to press a button to see it, and also to changing the navigation to be AJAX calls, so you can quickly zoom through the scorecard, without a whole page refresh. It's nice. I'm also working on some of the bounce rules and the algorithms that parse ...Continue Reading

And it's quick and easy, too! I used to have that link but it changed with the upgrade and I didn't know that I could go back to it. That's exactly what I want to do. Regarding the CC issue - I understand exactly what you are saying, I just wish there was a work around. I don't know enough about headers and sc ...Continue Reading

I much preferred a non-personalized link - tell them which address they are subscribed with (or even personalize it by prefilling an unsubscribe form with the email address but make them actually click "unsubscribe") but don't automatically do it when the link is clicked. All of the major discussion list platforms leave this information in the email. If you send a message out, with a CC'd address, the CC'd address should have it delivered to them, since it's your mail server that sends the copy of the message out to the person who has been CC'd. Dada Mail does strip out this header, not because of personalization, but because for every message it sends out, i ...Continue Reading

Mailman does.LISTSERV also strips them out (which I do find VERY annoying too.)Which others keep it in? It might make sense to look at any available sources to see how they do it. Yahoo groups and google groups both keep them in. But the messages they send are not personalized, so the below wouldn't be an issue.  I am not sure how other lists do it, but here is why I think Dada does not: (It is easiest to describe by example.)You have a list with 500 subscribers and each message that goes out is personal ...Continue Reading
