DADAmail suddenly stopped working

June 4th 2012 PDT

Hi, I'm running Dada 4.9.1. I upgraded from a previous version and was able to successfully send a mass mailing out on May 9. Today, I tried sending a test email for a new email I want to send to my group and I get nothing. Usually with the test emails I get them right away. I do get the "This mailng has completed" prompt so I'm trying to figure out if it's my provider, the weather (it's raining) or a setting has mysteriously changed with my provider. I'm using the "sendmail" option with the ...Continue Reading

Oh hey, v5.0.0 is out, I'll be out of town starting 6/6/12

June 3rd 2012 PDT

Hello everyone, Thankfully, version 5.1.0 is out the door! Install docs, with download links: http://dadamailproject.com/support/documentation-5_1_0/install_dada_mail.pod.html The changelog is massive, so I would suggest checking it out - this is a big release, almost larger than 4.9 -> 5.0, if we neglect looking at the layout/UI changes: http://dadamailproject.com/support/documentation-5_1_0/changes_5_x.pod.html#summary_5_1_0 There are two bugs out for 5.0.0, one about Tracker Prefs not saving, and one ab ...Continue Reading

Re: Trying to Understand DADA Mail system

Hi Seymour, I'm not sure if anyone has replied to you but I saw this and thought I would. I've used DADA for several years to run my email list for ChinoHills.com and I love it. It's very reliable and stable and the guy that develops it keeps it up. Feel free to write to me if you want a little help. After Dada is installed, you can change the name of your list(s) at any time from within the admin panel.  Check the section named "Change List Information."For another application (a calendar, not a mailer) I have built my own separate subscriber admin screens using php.  They are password protected so they are secure and their only purpose is to manually add or edit subscribers.  It's quick and easy to use.  If you have that capability, I can provide some pointers.  I ...Continue Reading

Re: Trying to Understand DADA Mail system

May 25th 2012 PDT

You install (or have Justin install) Dada on your own server. You then create an email address for the list, such as list@PROTECTED or whatever your URL is. If you do not have a website, you would need to get a domain and hosting account before using Dadamail. If you are unfamiliar with PHPMyAdmin, the easiest way to change an address would be to delete the old one and add the new one from within Dada rather than trying to do it in the database. Re: Trying to Understand DADA Mail system

May 25th 2012 PDT

I am comfortable using computer systems, but I am not familiar with PHPMyAdmin. Can you give me more details, or a screen shot. The people on my lists tell me every so often they have a new e-mail address and want me to change theirs. Right now I am using GoogleGroups and they do not even let me add people anymore. They stopped it about a year ago. I have to invite people to join. It is a real headache. Also you mentioned that you run a list for parents of gymnysts. How does one establish the "name" of ...Continue Reading

Re: Trying to Understand DADA Mail system

May 25th 2012 PDT

I know you like to leave this to the addressee, but it would be immensely helpful to the admins if we could do this via the control panel. I manage lists for a group of parents of gymnasts and they barely read the messages, much less want to change their own addresses. They want someone to do it for them and it makes more work for me to have to either remove the old one and add a new one OR go into the database to change it. I'd *love* to have the ability to do it via the control panel/dashboard. Warm regards, Mary A ...Continue Reading

Re: Trying to Understand DADA Mail system

May 25th 2012 PDT

I'm not sure if Justin is in town right now, so I'll answer. Yes, that is all possible and one of the reasons that I am using Dada for a gymnastics team list. Without the ability to add and remove addresses myself it would be impossible to manage the lists I run. One note, though - changes can't be made through the admin dashboard by the administrator, but it's easily done in MySQL if you are comfortable working in PHPMyAdmin. Add and removing addresses can be accomplished via the admin dashboard. Warm regards, Mary ...Continue Reading
