After Dada is installed, you can change the name of your list(s) at any time from within the admin panel. Check the section named "Change List Information."For another application (a calendar, not a mailer) I have built my own separate subscriber admin screens using php. They are password protected so they are secure and their only purpose is to manually add or edit subscribers. It's quick and easy to use. If you have that capability, I can provide some pointers. I ...Continue Reading

You install (or have Justin install) Dada on your own server. You then create an email address for the list, such as list@PROTECTED or whatever your URL is. If you do not have a website, you would need to get a domain and hosting account before using Dadamail. If you are unfamiliar with PHPMyAdmin, the easiest way to change an address would be to delete the old one and add the new one from within Dada rather than trying to do it in the database. I am comfortable using computer systems, but I am not familiar with PHPMyAdmin. Can you give me more details, or a screen shot. The people on my lists tell me every so often they have a new e-mail address and want me to change theirs. Right now I am using GoogleGroups and they do not even let me add people anymore. They stopped it about a year ago. I have to invite people to join. It is a real headache. Also you mentioned that you run a list for parents of gymnysts. How does one establish the "name" of ...Continue Reading

I know you like to leave this to the addressee, but it would be immensely helpful to the admins if we could do this via the control panel. I manage lists for a group of parents of gymnasts and they barely read the messages, much less want to change their own addresses. They want someone to do it for them and it makes more work for me to have to either remove the old one and add a new one OR go into the database to change it. I'd *love* to have the ability to do it via the control panel/dashboard. Warm regards, Mary A ...Continue Reading

I'm not sure if Justin is in town right now, so I'll answer. Yes, that is all possible and one of the reasons that I am using Dada for a gymnastics team list. Without the ability to add and remove addresses myself it would be impossible to manage the lists I run. One note, though - changes can't be made through the admin dashboard by the administrator, but it's easily done in MySQL if you are comfortable working in PHPMyAdmin. Add and removing addresses can be accomplished via the admin dashboard. Warm regards, Mary ...Continue Reading

I've never used L-Soft Listserv intimately, but Dada Mail allows you to add/remove addresses. Changing/Updating the address can happen by the addressee themselves via their install-wide Profile. If you want to people to send a message to the rest of the list (like this mailing list), you'll want to install Dada Bridge, as well, ...Continue Reading

I am considering trying out using the DADA mail system for using it with several lists I run for a homeowners board. I am wondering if this system works like the L-Soft listserv where the owner can add addresses, change them, and remove them at any time. Could you give me some feedback. Seymour ...Continue Reading

Hey everyone, I've been worked wicked hard on the 5.1.0 release - new features, plugins - tons of things. I'll be gone for a few days and then I'll release a better when I come back. There's a chance I'll be out for all of June again, so that'll be the last release until late in the summer. It'll be a good one. Just FYI if you try to email me in the next few, ...Continue Reading

Hey everyone, I've been getting a lot of reports about the Tracker sometimes not showing all the reports for every Mass Mailing that goes out. The problems seems to be that it doesn't record the number of subscribers that are on the list, when a mass mailing goes out. When the Tracker makes a list of all the reports to show, it uses this one metric to gather everything. Missing metric = missing report. Not good. I think the current version of Dada Mail fairs better at this, as there is a check to make sure that entr ...Continue Reading

Hello Everyone, I've been working on getting Dada Mail to, "Auto Adjust" it's batch settings, depending on what your Amazon SES sending limits are set at. This is useful, as you're usually started out at a ridiculously low rate, which is periodically raised at Amazon's discretion. There's also a limit per second and per 24hours that you have to be careful to keep in line with. So, I whipped up a feature to do this all automatically and adjust it, as your SES quota changes. It'll make it into the v5.1.0 re ...Continue Reading
