It's more likely that it's your server being blocked than DadaMail. One of the downsides of hosting your own mailing list is keeping up with the ISPs that block your IP address. This is more of a problem if you are on a shared server than if you have a dedicated server, since you are really being judged by the reputation of every site on that server. If you don't have the bounce handler installed, you should. It will allow you to see which domains are bouncing and if there is a trend. Once you know that, you can look i ...Continue Reading

Hey all, Thanks again for the assistance on the last issue I had. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience/issues with att.net completely blocking emails from a DadaMail list? Receiver is saying that she doesn't get them at all (not even in spam filters). I'm also not getting any bouncebacks and I don't know if there is a log on activity like this built in. I haven't heard any other issues from other people. I know we are not blacklisted as that came up in my previous discussion regarding another issue. ( ...Continue Reading

Hi May Ann,The directory to look for is: DADA/Template/templates/The string ""You are currently subscribed to," can be found in the template file default_list_template.tmpl. Please notice that many templates do include others. I need to make some changes to the HTML templates found on the website, particularly in the archives area. They aren't editable through the admin dashboard. Can someone point me in the right direction to find the files to update the wording? I tried a Find within the folder in Dreamweaver but it didn't come up with anything. I'm starting with "You are currently subscribed to, <list name>".Thanks! Untitled Document Warm regards, Mary Ann Post: mailto:[list_settings.discussion_pop_email] Unsubsc ...Continue Reading

Hi Moshe, Thanks that is very helpful. I actually added two SPF records...one that Google Apps generated (DKIM) and one that was the Dreamhost one from their wiki so basically I had 2 spfs covering ALL mail servers (Google and Dreamhost)--I think. I sent myself a test email at 6:25 p.m. and I actually got it! Woo hoo. But I've modified the Dreamhost SPF to include the google one as you recommended and will test again. And BINGO, it works. Could be too that DH tech support did something on their end (I ...Continue Reading

According to the lookup I just did, you copied the SPF record from the DreamHost wiki page that you referenced. That will not work. Your SPF record does not contain Google's addresses and this will cause all mail sent through Google Apps to be rejected (which I assume isn't what you want). DreamHost's Wiki is assuming that you will be sending mail form their servers ONLY, which is not the case. You need to add the following to your MX record. (Add it right before the word "mx" at the end): ...Continue Reading

Hmm, now I'm thinking Google Apps is NOT my problem. In checking my logs, I switched over to GApps in March, and send out 2 emails after that via sendmail. . . . My sendmail path is right... So, I've added SPF records and maybe that will fix things. Hoping DH tech gets back to me but I'm thinking they will be vague as they For Dreamhost servers, I found their SPF record for DH mail servers and I added one for Google. http://wiki.dreamhost.com/SPF K On 6/4/12 4:34 PM, Moshe Katz wrote: ...Continue Reading

Create a subdomain (like "list.plgcsa.org") on the host's web site and an email address (like "list@PROTECTED"). Then set Dada Mail to log in to the local SMTP server as " list@PROTECTED ". Once you have logged in, you should be able to use any address you want as the "From" address of the list, whether it is on the domain or the subdomain. According to http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html?, plgcsa.org currently has no spf record. If you want to cre ...Continue Reading

Hi Moshe, Thanks for the tip. So you're using SMTP then and not sendmail. What do you use for the login/pw then for SMTP? In looking at DadaMail FAQ: http://dadamailproject.com/support/documentation-4_9_1/FAQ-email_sending.pod.html#dada_mail_and_google_apps_for_domains It says that you can use local mail servers but you can't use an email address that is managed by Google Apps (e.g. list owner email I'm assuming). Also, when you created the SPF record, I just did that in Google Apps ...Continue Reading
