From: mrivner@rivner net I am running DADAMAIL using the latest version 10 7 2 Stable 12/29/17 I run several discussion lists on this server which is a dedicated server from Bluehost One of our discussion lists has members being unsubscribed without them requesting it

So, the three places a subscriber can be removed from a list are:

  • The unsubscribe link in the email
  • from bouncing too many times
  • The list owner via the list control panel

That's about it If a person forwards an email from the list to someone, that someone could very well click the unsubscription link

Bouncing can happen without the user's knowledge I was thinking of making a new feature in Dada Mail - more of a choice for when an email continues to bounce The two choices now are:

  • Remove them from the list
  • or -
  • Remove them from the list, AND put them on the "bouncing email" sublist

The third choice would be,

  • Don't remove them from the list, but tell the list owner this email is bouncing, and let them deal with it

That third choice may be what you would want, as you may know the user personally, and can talk to them off-list about what the issue is

There could also be sort of a "bounce white list" that's just a list of addresses that are never, ever removed from a mailing list, despite intermittent bouncing That could be tied in with that new feature, so that if the problem is intermittent, but can't be solved, you could just do that, and everyone can get back to their lives :)

As to what is happened with these particular users of yours - you may have to check the logs, to see what's going on Where is the unsubscribe coming from (ip address)? are they listed in the bounced log? Things like that

Judging from your lists (we've talked before), it looks like some of them may fall into the, "private list" category if so, you may want to actually run them as a private list That means that instead of an unsubscribe link, you have a, "request to unsubscribe" That'll stop the first way someone is removed from the list from happening, (The unsubscribe link in the email)
