Hello Everyone,
I worked today on reimplementing a one-click unsubscribe scheme that's safe from apps that scan and follow all the links found in an email message This is a big problem users were facing with mail readers/mail workflow that was hooked up to say, a virus detection component The component would follow the one-click unsubscribe link, and - unsubscribe the address!
Current (v8) versions work like this: once the subscriber clicks the unsubscribe link, they will just need to fill in their email address again
Now (v9), they will just need to click the unsubscribe link My technique relies on Javascript, so if that's not available, the user will see the form again
That's hopefully exactly what these apps will see, which will stop an inadvertent unsubscribe from happening
This feature will be optional, and will be disabled by default We'll see how well it works in the Real World!
