Weirdness with authorized senders, Pipe to script, and 6.8

I updated to 6.8 recently and it seems to be working well, but I'm having an issue that started with the update. I am now getting bounce messages like the one below (I've stripped the identifying info but left the relevant notices) when I send from an address that is an authorized sender. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether that address is on the subscriber list or not - it still generates the email. I get the same error every time I send an email to the list from an authorized sender address, but the emails are going through to the list. Why is it sending the error message to me if they are going through?

Emails to the list from subscriber addresses (provided they are not authorized senders) don't get that error message, only authorized senders. It is an unmoderated list, but the same thing is happening on my test list which I have set up as moderated.

Unfortunately, this means that the least technical people (the ones I wanted to be authorized senders but not moderators) are the ones getting these bounce messages, which is sure to confuse them. Is there something going on with the new authorized sender functionality that is causing the pipe to program to be processed as an email address?

I don't understand how the pipe to program works beyond forwarding the email to the script, so I don't have any idea what is causing this.
