Hi Mary Ann,

I have translated the template files in Dutch. To get rid of this upgrade problem, I installed git on my PC being able to sync with Justin his repository. Every local change made in e.g. the template files can now be merged to newer versions. When git detects a conflict you can start a diff to find out how to solve it. This way it is relatively easy to keep up with new versions. Although I have to admit git is not that simple if you are not familiar with version control systems: it has quite a steep learning curve. But you can use it for many other projects as well, so it might be worth the effort. I really do benefit from git now for several software projects.

Regards Frans

You don't sound snarky, and it's your program so obviously you can do whatever you want with it. I just switched to a Mac this year and am still getting used to the change. I guess my biggest issue was that you said that saving the template files would be fine for versions but major upgrades would possibly break the templates. With multiple installs, it's hard to keep up with changing the templates multiple times for each install.

I use DW in code view so it's a glorified text editor, but it's always been what I've used for site management and large find and replace operations. I just switched to a Mac this year and am still getting used to the change, but I'll check out TextMate.
Warm regards,

Mary Ann

All you have to use is an honest to goodness text editor with a multi-file search capability. On the Mac, I just use TextMate for everything,

I use amember for a membership site and they allow you to save all of the strings in the database. It's wonderful.

Not to sound snarky, but I don't think I'd really like that idea. I've spent so much time getting them templates out of the Perl code, I'm not now going to put them in a database file. The template files should be easy enough to work with, using the right tool (a text editor). Dreamweaver wouldn't be the right tool for this job.
