RE: Unsubscribe/Subscribe Confirmation Email Looping?

Justin, I would really like to use an unsubscribe link that is not automatic I set up my Email Messages Templates in Dada to use a link to a form where the person has to put in their address to unsubscribe, but Dada doesn't recognize this as an unsubscribe link and attaches one to the top, which looks terrible Is there any way around this? CAN-SPAM actually requires a link to unsubscribe from all newsletters, so I prefer to give that as an option instead of the auto-unsubscribe

I really don't want to use a long URL to cause wrapping and break the link as that is inconvenient for the subscriber and looks bad

Warm regards,

Mary Ann

Hello Everyone,

I don't have any updates to this problem, although I was wondering if anyone that's having this problem would like to test out a simple solution:

If this loop is because of a prefetch-link thing, it may be easy enough just to break the loop by changing a few of the email templates:

Subscription Successful Email Message ($SUBSCRIBED_MESSAGE)

Find:

  • Want to remove yourself from this mailing list at any time? Use this link:

If the above URL is inoperable, make sure that you have copied the entire address Some mail readers will wrap a long URL and thus break this automatic unsubscribe mechanism

  • Want more information about this mailing list? Visit: /list/

And just change it to:

  • Want to remove yourself from this mailing list at any time? Use the form at: /list/

Also:

($UNSUBSCRIBED_MESSAGE)

Find:

You may re-subscribe to this list at any time by visiting the following URL:

If the above URL is inoperable, make sure that you have copied the entire address Some mail readers will wrap a long URL and thus break this automatic unsubscribe mechanism

You may also change your subscription by visiting this list's main screen:

/list/

And just change that (again) to:

You may re-subscribe to this list at any time by visiting the following URL:

/list/

If anyone wants to give that a shot, I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on if that helps stop these loops
