4 3 0 was the start of a redefinition of what Dada Mail is - not so much of change of direction, but perhaps a clarification The homepage of Dada Mail says:

"Dada Mail is a Contemporary Mailing List Manager Dada Mail works brilliantly - especially when you want to run a verified, closed loop opt-in subscrption-based mailing list that your subscribers can trust "

A feature in Dada Mail - Mass-Subscription of addresses via the list control panel was marked as, "deprecated" in that release There was a lot of confusion on why this feature has been deprecated (especially since a LOT of people seem to be using it) and if you can re-enable it The answer to, "why" is basically outlined in the, "Using Dada Mail" article:

Much of my personal development will be in making it easier for people to hook up Dada Mail to various other programs, like shopping carts, etc, so that it's easier for people to use Dada Mail and have it work within their current workflow

This is a bugfix-mostly release (~ 15 bugs reported and closed) - below is the changelog for 4 3 1:

SOAP Examples for Subscribing Included

Some SOAP proof of concept files have been included in, dada/extras/scripts/SOAP

They can be read at:

They include a server written in Perl and clients written in Perl and php They are also documented in the Subscription Cookbook

They are, in fact, Proof of Concepts and are not complete applications

Plugin: mx_lookup cgi cleaned up

The mx_lookup cgi plugin has been cleaned up and documentation added It's currently listed as, DEPRECATED, but will not go away, until the functionality it has is brought into the core of the program It's still a good example of how to make a simple Dada Mail plugin

Code Cleanup

github user masktos (Mark Stosberg) was kind enough to refactor a ton code into Dada Mail, having to do with Modern Perl/Perl Best Practices coding Thanks, Mark! Some of the things he worked on include,

• simplifying and optimizing URI encoding/decoding
• changing foreach() to for()
• Adding Params::Validate, FindBin to some Dada Mail API subroutine/methods
