Curious about something I'm cleaning out old logs and and other various items and I noticed that there is both a boucews txt log that keeps a scorecard plus there is a table in the DB that seems to do the same thing Why? Can one be eliminated? I see the log contains a lot more info, but this is the first time I've really looked at it so it may not be all that important to me
The db only holds the scores, per list/subscriber and the log holds the entire report, per bounce If you view the scorecard in the control panel, the reports are then shown for each email address I'd keep the db, if the log is too big, ditch it (although it could be helpful if you're looking for some problem)
The reason why there isn't one and not the other is performance The txt log is only read when you do a search The db is used for scoring, tallying, seeing if a subscriber should be removed - lots of things,
