cgi script time limit

Hi Justin,

A hosting company from one of my customers has a time limit of about 2 hours for processing cgi script continuesly. This is not enough to send a large list of email addresses. Now I am thinking of using the auto_pickup feature and running it from a cron.

However, probably the host provider will receive a notification message when a script is running out of its time limit. This might result in complaints towards the customer, specially when it happens all the time. So this has to be avoided. Is there a possibility in Dada to send messages for a specific period of time and then dropt the script silently? To let the script down in a controlled way seems to be a better solution than waiting for the operating system or the apache server to kill it abruptly, or?

Just a few seconds ago I read the anouncement of your Alpha 3 realease! It speaks about "Domain-Specific Sending Tunings". Maybe this time limit can be configured here? Also the "Restart Mailings After Each Batch" option can be used for this I believe, but won't it give much overhead to start the script every minute or so? Or maybe this option can be extended to "Restart Mailings After one or more Batches" and then filling in the number of batches? That will be very flexible and satisfies my needs as well!

Will the auto_pickup feature also work for dada_bridge discussion lists sendings? I guess the answer is yes, but I just want to be sure.

By the way, great work this auto_pickup feature!!

regards,

Frans
