Hello,
I've been working on hooks into SpamAssassin when using dada_bridge pl
The idea being, that if we can prescreen the message in
dada_bridge
pl, we can reject the spam message before it either gets
on to the list, or gets bounced to the list owner, because the sender
isn't a member of the list
I don't think we've seen too too much spam (1? 2?) messages get by
onto this list, but this could be an interesting feature to relieve
some of the administration of a discussion list using dada_bridge
pl
Even though the list gets almost no spam, I get many MANY, "not
allowed to post" messages - dada_bridge
pl is set up to forward these
messages to me
For spam messages, I couldn't care less, and I just
remove them
I'm hoping hooking into SpamAssassin directly, and, "pre
screening" these messages will help me not have to worry about this
Once this stuff is sort of stable, a couple of cool things can happen:
Since there's some sort of check, you can have a discussion list
that's open for all to post
If I can get this SpamAssassin thingy working well, I can add a
feature that will allow you to prescreen messages sent from the list
control panel, and you can see if the messages you are trying to send
are being flagged because of some reason (content?)
It'll then give
you an option to fix these problems, before you send them
That would
be awesome
Anyways, just wanted to keep you all abreast
The SpamAssassin
libraries that are available on my dev server are 2
60, the latest
SpamAssassin is 3
x - which means, I may need someone to test these
functionalities for the newer version of SpamAssassin, and possibly,
"borrow" your hosting account for a few hours
I'll let you know
I'm
going to put these new changes, "live" on this list in a little bit,
and also commit them into CVS soon enough
Cheers,
