header text float bug (was: Re: Re: IE 5/Mac Template Breakage/body{} q's)

when looking at the beta (and your fix), I'm seeing the amount of space on the right of the, ":: Sign Up for a List ::" copy is more in Moz, than it is in IE I'm looking at the default screen

So which is wrong? Moz/Mac (with too much space), or IE/Mac (with not enough)? I think you're implying the former

This extra space I'm seeing is different than the 2 9 series, where the space left of, " : Dada Mail" was a similar size to the right space of, " :: Sign Up for a List ::"

I certainly haven't made any revisions that intend to change that 2 9-series behavior

What's strange is that this extra space only comes into affect after the entire screen loads - in other words, the spacing is fine, until everything below is loaded in, and the copy shifts to the left Strange I wonder if it's the table below that's holding the subscription form, as that shift doesn't seem to occur on screens that don't have a table in them

I'd say that's /more/ than strange! And the clincher, if it /is/ a Moz bug: I can't replicate it Windows (at least with my test pages)

I'll try to find the time to install beta2 this weekend, and see if I can learn anything different In the meantime:

  • If it's a Moz/Mac bug, I won't be able to do a thing with it So I can only suggest the standard bugfix process: build a minimal test case that exhibits the bug, see if you can find your own fix by mucking about with that test case, and if not, send it on in to bugzilla org

  • If it's an IE/Mac bug, check out: http://www macedition com/cb/ie5macbugs/ and/or http://www l-c-n com/IE5tests/ for anything that might sound familiar, and try any & all fixes suggested

  • And either way: it's ultimately up to you to decide whether this is an unaccepable problem or just a little quirk If it's unacceptable, let me know and I'll back out all my post-2 9 2 changes to the header so at least you aren't moving backwards with the function and layout of new releases
