From: maryann@thehomeschoolmom com Will any guidance be provided for making sure our Dadamail data is in compliance with the GDPR, especially with regard to individuals requesting a copy of all of their data (since clickthroughs are tracked by individual) and the right to be forgotten (how to purge the database of records for a particular individual)?

The burden of this (as the developer) is probably these two features:

  • the right to be forgotten
  • the request for data

Getting the privacy policy right, asking for confirmation for the services - all that other stuff is most likely details to be worked out by the company itself, which Dada Mail already gives tools/a framework to work with IANAL so if this truly important to you, get one (or some sort of legal consultation)

Neither of those two requirements seems too difficult to figure out how to make available - Dada Mail already has a lot of reporting tools, so it just needs to all be made in some sort of cumulative report And the right to be forgotten means you just need to replace the user's data with dummy data - so a few search/replaces + queries in the DB + logs, I guess I'm certainly a proponent of both of these features and in privacy online in general

All this certainly could be done with the current version - albeit awkwardly, by someone competent, but could also be a part of the app I probably won't be releasing a guide on how to do the former ('cause I have 18 years of versions to retro this for? Haha: no ), but could build it in for the latter

Thankfully, Dada Mail is at its core a pretty simple app A lot of people don't use it for businesses, so I guess I won't have a mass upgrade mania come May! :p The number of users in the EU or doing business with citizens in an EU country are probably very great - I'm somewhat amazed you're literally the first person to ever ask about it (So, thank you)

I'll be sure that it's something I will notify users of Dada Mail about, and have something available at least by the deadline
