I need to upgrade to php 5 3 on my server I'm running dada 7 05 I know that dada is perl, but I wasn't sure if it uses php for anything and I just wanted to check before I upgrade to be sure that there won't be any issues with Dada
Dada Mail is written in Perl, but there are parts that are written in php, actually The KCFinder backend is written in PHP, so that is a consideration KCfinder is one of the file manager/uploaders that Dada Mail supports - the other one is Core5 File Manager
php v5 3 was released 5 years ago, if I'm not mistaken, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to upgrade - I do believe the KCFinder source we're using was made in 2010, so it should be compatible (funnily enough, I thought development of KCFinder all but stopped, but there's been many releases since then - last stable one was a month ago!)
Sometimes an upgrade of php will upgrade MySQL as a dependency, but again, since you're upgrading to such an old version of php I don't think this should rock your boat too badly To be on the safe side, just backup your databases
