Re: New Feature Ideas for the Future: Private Mailing Lists

An integration with Wordpress would be phenomenal

Someone pony up the funds to comission this! This is a Very Difficult Feature that would take Quite a Bit of Time, I can't commit to doing the dev on the promise of future Pro Dada sales,

I just noticed this thread First the private mailing list functionality would be nice But I would not call is 'Private' I would call it a 'Transactional and Relationship' mailing list, making it clear that use of such a list must conform to the specific sections of the various SPAM laws regarding their use This will help protect you from someone claiming that you created an application for SPAM Bottom line, you have done a great, albeit a tad annoying :) , job of making it so Dada religiously conforms to the laws and adding a 'Private' type list could be confusing

I am already using it for transactional emails where list subscription is mandatory if a person has a privileged relationship with the sending organization Anyone that unsubscribes gets contacted and re-subscribed after they have been given the explanation that "If you want to do business with the organization, they had better be able to contact you Otherwise your privileges could be revoked Read your contract " The caveat is that we had to create separate lists for the marketing groups who want to be able to advertise things like classes that are provided by the organization, for a fee

As for CMS integration, I have been working on Drupal/CiviCRM integration using the existing DaDa RESTful subscription interface and am not sure it is something you, Justin, the Dada Dev, would want to get into It is a slippery slope because if you do, then someone might then want Joomla, and then Drupal, etc Each CMS has rather different integration points My suggestion would be to continue the development of RESTful and other web services that allow external applications to integrate with DaDa Then you can turn around and say DaDa can be integrated with any backend system via these APIs Hell, a mobile app could then be written

The other question I have is for Mary Ann,

Is there a reason you continued to use DaDa Mail's private file functionality as opposed to a Wordpress file manager and let the CMS manage content and handle authentication/authorization to that content?
