Hello everyone, I've been playing around with making a jQuery plugin, to place a subscription form anywhere on a webpage Right now, you invoke it like this,
$(document)
ready(function() {
$("#target")
DadaMailSubForm(
{
DadaMailURL: "http://dadamailproject
com/cgi-bin/dada/mail
cgi"
}
);
});
And that'll place the subscription form on your page, in whatever has the id of, "target" When you submit the form, it'll be handled by the experimental RESTful API, via AJAX calls, just like the demo I posted up, modal window and all:
http://dadamailproject
com/cgi-bin/dada/mail
cgi/rest_subscribe_demo/
I'm gonna add some more options to DadaMailSubForm(), add some simple client side form validation and call 'er good for the time being That should make the barrier to entry really low for people wanting something like this, and give an example on how to do something similar for themslves, with whatever else sort of system they already have in place
This will finally replace the old extension, "ajax_include_subscribe cgi" that was removed from Dada Mail a long long time ago,
I can't really think of a reason why the subscription form shouldn't be used in this way by default in Dada Mail itself: opening up a modal window, rather than refresh the screen - can anyone?
