Looking at this, it seems the code you've been commenting out is pretty useless, at this point
It's in a subroutine called, "convert_to_ascii", which was used when Dada Mail didn't have a good handle on how to take HTML with perhaps special characters in it, and convert it to a plaintext version email message, and not error out
Dada Mail isn't doing this very intelligently, as anything that requires basically an HTML entity, like an, Ü (HTML entity: Ü) will get turned into its other HTML entity version (numbered): Ü - and then that's looked for in Dada Mail, to be basically removed
But if I remove this code - as you're doing, something as simple as an, Ü is still not being converted correctly, when Dada Mail makes the Plaintext version of a message, from the HTML version So, that needs to be fixed
