Bounce Handler Improvements

Hello Everyone,

I've been having bounces forwarded to me, after they're parsed on this list I wanted to compare what scores they've been given, and how they've been matched up with the rules that come with Dada Mail and see if everyone looks pretty good

Things didn't look all that good

So, I took the day and made some pretty good improvements on the actual message parser, and added about a dozen more rules to the Bounce Handler Rules

To test all of these, I made a little web-based checker, that allowed me to simply paste the source of a message and see the diagnostic results, as well as the rule it matched up with If I wasn't happy with what it matched up, it was then pretty easy to make a new rule, that would then match the bounce message perfectly

I've attached a screenshot of that little checker - and you can kind of see how it works The new rule that now gets matched, "qmail_tmp_error", is only looking for two things, a, "Status" of, "4 3 0" and a, "Guessed_MTA" of, "Qmail" If both those things are found, it records a, "Soft" bounce score to the address's scorecard, as it's supposed to be a, "Temporary error" The rule will be a part of the final version of v6, and it's pretty easy to customize, if that's what you'd like to do

You can view what the rules currently look like, here:

pl

They're basically listed from more-complex, to least

That little checker will be a part of the Bounce Handler, but I'm not sure it's something I'm going to document much - it's way rough, and will more confuse, than enlighten the casual user of Dada Mail

Nevertheless, if you do upgrade to v6 and have the Bounce Handler installed, you may tack on this query string to the Bounce Handler's URL:

?flavor=manually_enter_bounces

and you can access it
