Mailman does.
LISTSERV also strips them out (which I do find VERY annoying too.)
Which others keep it in? It might make sense to look at any available sources to see how they do it.
Yahoo groups and google groups both keep them in. But the messages they send are not personalized, so the below wouldn't be an issue.
I am not sure how other lists do it, but here is why I think Dada does not: (It is easiest to describe by example.)
You have a list with 500 subscribers and each message that goes out is personalized.
Because Dada submits the mail to a local (i.e. list-owner operated) mail server, the mail server will deliver each of the 500 personalized messages to the person on the CC line.
Obviously that would be bad. I haven't had my coffee yet, so I have no brilliant suggestions. Anyone? Justin, have you put any thought into this while developing the software? I don't know if there is a way around it, but the people on my lists are not techies, so they expect the list to work like what they are used to (namely google and yahoo), and being able to CC is something they are all used to.
Speaking of personalized, has any more thought gone in to the personalized unsubscribe links and the auto-fetching issue? I much preferred a non-personalized link - tell them which address they are subscribed with (or even personalize it by prefilling an unsubscribe form with the email address but make them actually click "unsubscribe") but don't automatically do it when the link is clicked. I get quite a few confused emails from people who got unsubscribed. I finally enabled closed loop unsubscribes (which I don't like to do in case the address is dead) but it still confuses people. Not sure if it's due to auto-fetch, forwards where someone else clicks the link, or people who click the link just to get to the site and don't realize the unsubscribe is automatic.
Warm regards,
Mary Ann
