This is sort of interesting:

Quote: Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) is a highly scalable and cost-effective bulk and transactional email-sending service for businesses and developers Amazon SES eliminates the complexity and expense of building an in-house email solution or licensing, installing, and operating a third-party email service The service integrates with other AWS services, making it easy to send emails from applications being hosted on services such as Amazon EC2 With Amazon SES there is no long-term commitment, minimum spend or negotiation required - businesses can utilize a free usage tier and after that enjoy low fees for the number of emails sent plus data transfer fees

The price is around $0 01 per 100 email messages - this could potentially make it cheaper to run Dada Mail on an inexpensive hosting account and just use Amazon SES for the actual mail sending at lightning speeds The do state that you can send messages through this system via SMTP, but I've yet to find out how The other option is to use their API - what's cool about this is that their reference implementation is all in Perl -

Which would be very, very easy to integrate into Dada Mail - you could almost do it without changing anything in Dada Mail, except the $MAILPROG variable from your sendmail utility to the provided script (which also must be configured) - the only thing you'd need to do is make sure you have CPAN dependencies and setup the Amazon SES account
