Hello everyone,
I've been working on getting Dada Mail's Screen Caching working again You can read a little about it, here:
http://github com/justingit/dada-mail/blob/screen_cache/dada/extras/documentation/pod_source/features-screen_cache pod
This feature was disabled in v4 (perhaps earlier?) because it didn't work with Profiles and didn't work with unicode/UTF-8
I ironed those problems out and now - it should work again! Yeah! It's an easy way to speed up some of the screens of Dada Mail, and, if we're sort of careful, there's more things to speed up - like, say, so of the admin screens aren't cached now, but could be A lot of assets, like the javascript files and even images can be cached The speed improvement is noticeable It'll also help your SQL database to not get thrashed It'll be enabled by default and there's really nothing more you need to really know to use it - it just works
The work is currently on this branch, but should be merged in, soon:
http://github com/justingit/dada-mail/tree/screen_cache
There's docs, tests and a new plugin to help managed the cached assets
Other than that, I was looking at some ways to speed up mass mailing I didn't find much A lot of the drag-and-drop replacements for the template language (HTML::Template), really didn't fare much faster (HTML::Template::Pro or HTML::Template::Compiled), until you got into very large, and/or very complex messages I may keep it as an option for this who like to tinker with just a disclaimer
I did run Dada Mail through a profiler (http://search cpan org/~timb/Devel-NYTProf/ - amazing), and got between 10 and 25 seconds off each message sent But that does come to 4 minutes faster, per 1,000 messages Hmm, I'll take that I may be off by 10x the speed improvements - I haven't tested this in real world situations, yet, but it's probably best to be a little conservative with the estimates
I'm trying to push these releases pretty soon to "Stable" - this will most likely be the, "4 1" release
