Dada 4 Beta 5 - things to look out for

From: "Justin J" <justin@PROTECTED>

I'm hoping Beta 5 is the last beta - thanks everyone for all the
comments/suggestions/etc - they really do help out quite a bit

Some things that have been worked on, since Beta 4:

  • That Pesky Template Tag Problem

I've moved all the templates in Dada Mail to use the new-style tags -
these are just tags that are basically native to the templating
backend, which is currently HTML::Template

http://search

9/Template
pm

The old-style tags are those string in square brackets There's been a
ton of problems people are having with formatting

With this move to all-new-style tags, I've also made a way to turn
off support for old-style tags and old-style tags are now
deprecated Yay!

This also makes the templates a bit more uniform, since some of the
templates in Dada Mail were mixing up old-style and new-style tags and
that was generally a little messy

  • List Control Panel Remove functionality

When writing the chapter for the 4 0 manual on Removing addresses in
the control panel, I realized that if you feed it a CSV file of
addresses - say the same CSV file you use to Add addresses, or the CSV
file Dada Mail gives you, it doesn't work, so that's now fixed and
Dada Mail should do the right thing There's now also a, "Remove"
chapter (as there wasn't one of those, either )

  • More templating out of HTML

I found more HTML in the mail cgi file that wasn't templated out
That's very embarrassing to me, but more has been dealt with

  • Scriptalicious optimization

I got the Scriptalicious stuff to load a lot faster (Hat tip, of
course to Frans)

  • Send a Webpage and Javascript

Got Javascript removing working for the Send a Webpage (Hat tip again
to Frans)

  • Protoype/Scriptalicious stuff works for IE 6/7

Hat tip: Frans

Other than that, just a lot more cleanup, as I got through the manual
for updating and making sure everything works - and works well

Anyways, should be a solid release! The manual is basically all set
and if I can keep myself away from doing any more work, Dada Mail 4
Stable should be out shortly after I put out Beta 5 for double- checking on stuff,

I'll be releasing Beta 5 shortly (code changes are in the git repo, of
course)
