Has anyone seen spammers using the Send Archive feature? I'm
starting to see this happen for one of my lists They'll use the comments box to insert some advertisments then send the mail through my server
I think someone else reported this as well
I don't think I've
personally seen it, but it seems to be possible
* Short term solution is to simply turn off the feature
* The long-term solution may be to use some sort of challenge-
response system for this feature -
like the CAPTCHA ( http://en
wikipedia
org/wiki/CAPTCHA )
experimental feature for list subscriptions
I have to encapsulate
the CAPTCHA stuff a bit more to move it over with ease to the, "Send
a Message Archive" stuff, but that shouldn't be too impossible
Someone else noted that the current CAPTCHA scheme wasn't very
friendly for Universal Access, notably, there's no way to have, say,
a sound hint, instead of reading a string of letters in an image
That should probably be looked at
Currently, I'm using this:
http://search
cpan
org/~burak/GD-SecurityImage-1
61/lib/GD/
SecurityImage pm
I may switch over to this:
http://search
cpan
org/~jvanasco/Authen-PluggableCaptcha/lib/Authen/
PluggableCaptcha pm
(or have one or both be options), but it would take some playing
around with it
Even that solution doesn't have a plugin to generate
sound, so that's one more thing I'll have to tinker with ;)
