Your third improvement -- the button-less list switcher -- will
render that dropdown menu unusable if JavaScript is disabled And although I'm
still pretty new to the program, I'm noticing that several other control- panel functions require JavaScript also which is why I added an explicit statement of its necessity (alongside the cookies-enabled
requirement) to the admin login page
Let's have Javascript a requirement for admin stuff - but none for
the actual user pages, unless it gracefully degrades, as Shane
mentions
At the moment, there is almost no JavaScript on the list/
user pages
The notice on the log in page was actually sorely needed
As for ditching the button and putting a onSubmit() thing in the
select box, it's sound, but the button does work as a label to the
functionality of the widget
Without the button, you may not know
what that select box is for, and you'll just play around with it, get
to another list and start working on it, as if it was your original
list
Saying that, it's not entirely clear what the list switcher
does, if you came to it out of the blue
What may be better would be simple have some copy up top saying:
Switch to another list: [ select box ]
And then we could do away with the button, as it's labeled with just
copy, and use the simple JS in the select box itself
One concept I'd
like to get across is that the list switcher will switch you to a
different list, but show you the same screen
This is actually really
helpful
For example, if you have to change every privacy policy of
every list you have
Sorts of lots of concepts to get across in a
little space
