I'm happy to announce the latest development version of Dada Mail! Although not quite ready for prime time, 2 8 16 alpha 2 has some significant changes that we'd like you to preview

• Notable New Features:

  • HTMLArea Integration

HTMLArea is a browser-based HTML Editor You can now edit your HTML Mailing List messages within Dada Mail, without having to know HTML You can also paste from Word - the formatting will be saved It's neat

- "Send a Webpage" now applies the mailing list message template

More of a bugfix than a new feature, the "Send a Webpage" functionality in Dada Mail now applies the mailing list template, meaning, you don't have to put the unusbscribe link, among other things, in the webpage itself

- More program HTML Templated out

We've been able to slim down the mail cgi script from 2 8 15's 284 kilobytes to the current alpha's, 240 kilobytes Much of this is HTML that has been templated out The good news about this is that this HTML is now easy to edit and customize We're hoping to soon template out the entire program, get the HTML to xHTML spec and really have a great looking piece of software

: Basic Install Upgrade Time Extended

It's been more time than I've wanted between versions I wanted to announce today that anyone who has had a basic install of 2 8 15 from us will be able to receive a few upgrade to 2 8 16 stable when it comes out The reason there's been such a long time between releases is because of all the work that's put into the next release, not because we wanted to squeeze out of any promised upgrades

Basic installs usually come with three months of free upgrades - Pro installs: one year More information:

A lot of the problems I've seen with Dada Mail do come down to really poor hosting services Although probably cheaper than what Thinkhost is offering, these other hosting services can sometimes be more pain than their worth I'm really excited that Thinkhost has stepped up to the plate and offered some great service and support just for Dada Mail Please check them out, let me know how everything works out if you do decide to use them,
