Can't get Dada Mail to send messages?

Need help ASAP - foreign character problem

Postby sdfrio » Tue Jan 04, 2011 12:30 pm

I send mailings with both English and Brazilian Portuguese in the same message. I just sent a test message and opened it up in Gmail and any words with Portuguese accented characters are all MESSED up! I need to get this sent out today, so I hope someone can help out. You can see the result in the attachment. Under "advanced sending preferences" it's set to utf-8 utf-8. Should that be set to something else? Again, contents of the mailing are English AND Portuguese.

Thanks!

Can you put up the actually text you're trying to send? I'll see if I can recreate the problem.

Also, what are you using the read your email that you send?

Justin, I just realized (now that I need to send another mailing) I didn't reply to you. Here's some of the original text:

Show de lançamento do CD "Accents" (Zoho), de Scott Feiner. Este CD, seu terceiro, é uma mistura de temas prórprias e dos seus colegas de Nova York (onde o disco foi gravado), além de alguns clásicos. Junto com Feiner para este show, três féras da cena instrumental brasileira: Rafael Vernet (piano); Josué Lopez (saxofone) e Guto Wirtti (contrabaixo).

I'm using Gmail (web) to read email.

Any chance that upgrading to 4.4 will fix this?

Thanks.

Thanks for the sample text.

Here's what I've found:

If I send a Plaintext message, it comes through, fine,

If I send an HTML message, without using HTML entities for things like, "é" "ç", etc, it doesn't work.

I filed a bug

https://github.com/justingit/dada-mail/issues/114

and I will try to get that fixed. I'm not sure where the problem is coming from,

Looking at this further, I can't re-create the bug, but I found that the list I was initially testing on had the following Advanced Sending Preferences:

Default Character Set iso-8859-a
Default Plain Text Message Encoding 8bit
Default HTML Message Encoding 8bit

I changed this to:

Default Character Set UTF-8
Default Plain Text Message quoted-printable
[b]Default HTML Message Encoding
quoted-printable

And everything seemed to work just fine,

I've attached a screenshot to show you what I'm seeing. This is with version 4.4.0 of Dada Mail.
