Confusion over two config files

Postby davidqxo » Sun Feb 28, 2010 7:13 am

I have two config files:

<root>/.dada_files/.configs/.dada_config
<root>/webapps/<domain>/cgi-bin/dada/DADA/Config.pm

Config.pm seems to control most everything, as we expect, but .dada_config overrode my setting for PROGRAM_URL.

Is the .configs directory a holdover from pre-4.0 versions that I should delete?

Are there other .dada_files directories that I should delete?

Thank you. --David

Think of the Config.pm as the default for all your configs. For the most part, when you want to make a change to the global config, you're going to want to do it in the .dada_config file. So, no, the .dada_config file isn't a holdover from a previous version, it's how things are done.

The reasoning behind the .dada_config file comes to light during a manual upgrade: you'll replace the Config.pm file, but all the changes you made and saved in the .dada_config file will not be lost.
