Having Problems installing Dada Mail?

Getting message: Could not connect to your SQL Server

Postby rdbeets » Tue May 29, 2012 7:10 pm

I just tried to install & configure data mail pro over an existing free data mail installation. Dada mail discovers the existing configuration and I chose the upgrade option: Create a new .dada_config file.
I entered all database information correctly but the installation complains it cannot connect to my SQL Server. I tried deleting the original data mail database, created a new one with new user & password, but still getting the same error message.
Port is set to auto. There was no problem with the free version.

Any suggestions?

Do you still have the .dada_config file, from the old version - the original copy that wasn't causing any problems? See if any of the MySQL configs look different, from what the installer is now producing.

If MySQL isn't working, see if you have PostgreSQL available and use that instead (it's what I use on this site!)

If worse comes to worse, try just the Default backend, just so you're not completely down and out - you can always migrate to one of the SQL backends later down the road.

As far as I can see, there is no new .dada_config file (just the old one). I'm tempted to just delete all dada mail files on my server and do a fresh install. No real data to lose.
