Upgraded from 3.x.x to 4.2.0-beta2 but no emails...

Afternoon,
Just upgraded from version 3 to 4.2.0-beta2 and before tackling the upgrading the backend to MySQL and adding the bounce handler, I thought I'd better just test that everything was working A OK. I can log on as Admin fine but I've sent a couple of test mailings and also tried to subscribe from the form on the index page of the website but neither the test emails have come through to the list email address nor the confirmation email to the email address I used as a test for a new subscriber.
What can I next check to troubleshoot this problem?

I am having similar problem - No confirmation emails (option checked).
I am now at a point were can not Subscrib or Unsubscribe (as a users)

Well, I figured the next stage would be a clean install, which is what I am in the middle of doing now.

small discovery, if you unsubscribe a user that email address goes to the Blacklist - Why? I don't know.

Now I know why there are some issues with re-using test email addresses.

I am not sure if the unsubscribe is by design or a defect - but it was not an issues in Rel 3.05

I've done a clean install of 4.2.0-beta2 using the install manager (which worked, very handy), set the recommended MySQL backend and I was able to successfully subscribe using a test email and got the emails.

The only teething problem at the moment is that I'm trying to add the 1100 email addresses by uploading a text file which has them one per line and it's timing out. Once I sort that, will configure the Mystery Girl bounce handler. Unless there is a simple solution to the upgrade problem, a clean re-install seems the way to go.

Are you talking in regard to the upgrade or the Blacklist problem? If the former, what was it if you don't mind me asking?

I solved a few issues with checking Activate Black List (From Your Subscribers, view, Black Lists)
Subscription / unsubscription Issues I was having - Watch your Black List and set up parameters - if you set to keep Unsububscribed users off the Black list - things work better.champracing

I keep forgetting that this parameter MUST be setup in the Config.pm file.
$PROGRAM_ERROR_LOG = '/home/xxxxxx/.dada_files/.logs/errors.txt';
This also seems to have resolved the Unsubscribe Confirmation email - Magically they show up now. As well as the log files started working properly.


This is just FYI:
The Admin Link - You will HAVE to make the change in the Config.pm file
$SHOW_ADMIN_LINK ||= 0; - Too bad it does not work in the .dada_config file
