My cgi-bin has stopped working...

Postby orson » Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:46 am

I installed Dada Mail successfully a few days ago.

It all seems fine until I view subscribers. At that point, nothing happens. When I refresh, I get a 500 error for everything.

The strange thing is that *everything* in my cgi-bin then gives a 500 error. Even a test script that just prints 'hello'.

The cgi-bin seems to reset itself after 24 hours. At that point, the 'hello' script and Dada Mail are working again. It's all ok, until I view subscribers. Then the 500 errors are back for everything.

There seems to be nothing in the error log. I'm stuck with the host for the moment (it's not well-known, and support seems very lacking).

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening? I'm not an expert particularly, though have installed Dada Mail before on other sites I run, with no difficulties.

Thanks!

To the permissions of the scripts/cgi-bin itself change? They should all be set to 755.

Is it a mod_security hook, perhaps? There's nothing special on that screen that's happening - except maybe an AJAX call. If your host doesn't know what's goin' on, man, who knows? Perhaps try to disable mod_security for your cgi-bin?
