Easier way for subscr to change email ??

Postby howardballinger » Mon Nov 07, 2011 10:23 pm

Hi, and thanks again for the awesome Dadamail experience over the years!

There's one issue I didn't much pay attention to until the subscriber with the complaint happened to be my beloved (!) -- with closed loops in place, changing one's email address for list mailings is a four step process! And I realize that there is subscriber profile access, but creating a login to do this deed is even more steps.

I think there used to be a simple, one-step change email form in Dada, but apparently it's gone. Wouldn't it be consistent with email ethics to have a form allowing the subscriber to enter the new email on one page (with the old email pre-populated) then a single confirmation link thingie sent to the old email address ?? I think that would be a great feature to add, and hopefully not too much work!

Thanks -- Howard Ballinger

Profiles are automatically created upon a subscription to any Dada Mail list and the subscriber will be logged in. Perhaps an easier thing would be to make the profile session last for a long time, so a subscriber is logged into their profile "always"

It was gone, because it was completely insecure. Anyone could change anyone else's email address on any list to any other email address.

That's really pretty close to what Profiles have already, plus profiles adds that layer of security (not anyone can request a change of address for any address). That would not be a good thing. I think asking for someone to login successfully to make changes to an account (basically) isn't asking too too much.

Nothing is simple as it seems :)
