Bridge and IO::Socket::SSL module

Have a question about any of the Dada Mail plugins/extensions?

Bridge and IO::Socket::SSL module

Postby Appalbarry » Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:49 pm

I Give up - how do I install this thing and make the Bridge work for a small mailing list that I need to set up?

Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Disabled. The IO::Socket::SSL module needs to be installed.

I'm hosted (for the time being) at GoDaddy, and was going to use Gmail for the list POP address.

Thanks!

You'll probably need to install IO::Socket::SSL CPAN module on the command line, when connected to your account via ssh. Does that sound like it's over your head?

Why Gmail (or, do you mean Google for Domains?)? I'd somewhat suggest not doing that.

I've used Putty in the past on occasion, so that's no big deal. I could use a command line that i can copy/paste in for convenience though.

Gmail? No reason other than convenience and familiarity. I'm open to suggestions since it's largely a "set and forget" e-mail address.

I'd suggest actually, using an address that's tied to your domain, and not a Gmail address. You'll most likely have delivery problems, since it'll look like you're spoofing a Gmail address.

IO::Socket::SSL is not an easy module to install - not sure if you can even do it, since it requires a C module that also needs to be compiled. But, connect to your hosting account via ssh and use cpan to install it:

Code: Select all
cpan install IO::Socket::SSL module

I don't really think that it's going to work, though. How large is your mailing list? Depending on the type of GoDaddy account you have, the limits on email sending start at around 1000 messages/day.
